Bankwest: travel insurance for a credit card

Bankwest offers complimentary overseas travel insurance to eligible credit cardholders. This coverage provides base protection during your travels, with optional upgrades available for enhanced benefits.

Complimentary Travel Insurance Coverage

Eligible Bankwest credit cards include:

• Bankwest Platinum Mastercard: Provides complimentary overseas travel insurance for trips up to 3 consecutive months.
• Bankwest World Mastercard: Offers complimentary overseas travel insurance for trips up to 12 consecutive months.

The insurance covers the cardholder and their children during the trip, provided they are not residing overseas. Coverage includes:

• Emergency medical assistance abroad
• Emergency hospital expenses abroad
• Baggage and personal goods
• Personal liability
• Accidental death
• Cancellation and additional expenses for World Mastercard holders

Optional Upgraded Benefits

Cardholders can purchase additional coverage through the Cover-More upgrade portal, accessible via the Bankwest App or by calling Cover-More at 1300 468 340. Upgraded benefits may include:

• Trip cancellation (up to $15,000 for individual travelers or up to $20,000 for families)
• Cost rearrangement
• Rental vehicle insurance excess cover
• Travel delay expenses

Extending Coverage

If your journey exceeds the complimentary insurance period:

• Platinum Mastercard: Coverage can be extended by up to 2 additional months, totaling a maximum of 5 consecutive months.
• World Mastercard: Coverage can be extended by up to 6 additional months, totaling a maximum of 18 consecutive months.

To apply for an extension, contact Bankwest or Cover-More prior to your departure or before the current coverage expires. Payment of the applicable premium is required.

Making a Claim

1. Visit the Cover-More Claim Portal or access it through the Bankwest App.
2. Follow the instructions to complete your claim.
3. Scan and upload your supporting documents.
