If you are using Westpac, here’s the most accurate guide on how transfer times work—whether you're sending to another Westpac account, a different bank, or making payments overseas.

Westpac to Westpac Transfers

Transfers between Westpac accounts occur instantly 24/7, 365 days a year. This includes real-time payments using Osko® and PayID® Westpac FAQs (westpac.com.au).

Westpac to Other Banks (Domestic)

  • Online payments (Bill Payments, One-off, Tax Payments) sent to other banks are processed between 9:30 am and 10:00 pm AEST on business days.
  • If sent after 10:00 pm, or on weekends/holidays, they'll be processed at 9:30 am the next business day.
  • These payments are typically credited on the same day or next, depending on the recipient bank's policies.

Cheque Payments & Direct Debits

Cheque payments and direct debits are processed overnight and credited to recipients the next business day.

Incoming Transfers from Other Banks

  • When other banks send funds to your Westpac account, they are processed and credited between 9:15 am and 11:30 pm AEST on business days.

International Transfers

  • International payments (telegraphic transfers, foreign exchange) usually take 1–3 business days to arrive after Westpac processes them.
  • Westpac typically processes incoming international payments on the same day, provided they're received before the cut-off time, and credits them on that day.
  • Foreign payments under AUD 100 may be exempt from the AUD 12 processing fee.
