How to Apply

  1. Select the Appropriate Credit Card — Choose the credit card that best suits your financial needs and balance transfer requirements. Consider factors such as the length of the promotional period, the balance transfer fee, and any additional benefits or rewards.
  2. Gather Necessary Information — Prepare the following details for your application:
    • Personal identification documents
    • Details of your current credit cards, including BPAY biller codes
    • Information about your income, expenses, and employment
  3. Submit Your Application — Complete the online application form for your chosen credit card. The application process typically takes about 10 minutes, and Westpac aims to provide a decision within 1 minute.
  4. Activate Your New Credit Card — Upon approval, activate your new credit card by calling 1300-308-930. This will initiate the balance transfer process.

Important Considerations

  • Balance Transfer Limits — You can transfer balances from up to 3 non-Westpac Australian-issued credit or store cards. The total balance transfer amount must not exceed 80% of your approved credit limit.
  • BPAY Eligibility — Ensure that your current credit card issuer accepts BPAY payments, as this is required for the balance transfer to be processed.
  • Interest Rates After Promotional Period — After the promotional period ends, the standard variable cash advance rate will apply to any remaining balance transfer amount unless it is paid off earlier.
  • Account Activation — Activating your new credit card is essential to trigger the balance transfer process. Delays in activation may result in delays in the transfer.
