How do I close my Bank of Melbourne account?

You can close your Bank of Melbourne banking account in one of the following ways:

  • In person: Visit your nearest Bank of Melbourne branch. Ensure you bring valid identification and any associated account materials, such as cards or passbooks. You can locate a branch address on our website.
  • By phone: Call Bank of Melbourne at 13 22 66 (or if calling from overseas, dial +61 3 8536 7870) to initiate the account closure process.

Before closing your account, please ensure that:

  • All outstanding cheques have been presented for payment.
  • Any recurring payments or direct debits linked to the account have been cancelled.
  • All unused cheques, cards, and passbooks associated with the account are returned to the bank.

If your account has a credit balance, you will need to provide details of where and how you would like the funds disbursed. Please note that a fee of $10 is payable if a bank cheque is required.
