Westpac Bank offers secure storage options for those who need to protect important documents, jewelry, cash, and other valuables. Safe custody services are available at select branches across Australia and New Zealand.

Where You Can Access a Safe Deposit Box

  • Available in select Westpac branches in cities such as Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra.
  • Also available in Auckland, New Zealand, with a broader range of box sizes and options.
  • To check availability or apply, visit your local branch or call 132 032 (7 days a week, 8 am – 8 pm AEST).

Important Notice for New Customers

  • Since August 2022, Westpac has paused new safe custody agreements in Australia.
  • Existing customers may continue to use the service or join a waitlist at selected locations.
  • This does not affect safe deposit box access in New Zealand branches.

Pricing and Box Sizes

  • Rental costs vary by box size and location.
  • For smaller boxes, the average annual fee starts at approximately 60 AUD (or equivalent in local currency).
  • Larger or premium boxes in Auckland may cost from NZD 200 to NZD 800 per year.

Additional Options

  • Due to limited availability, some customers opt for private vault providers such as Guardian Vaults.
  • These providers may offer extended access hours and insurance on stored contents.
  • Be sure to compare services, fees, and insurance coverage before making a decision.
