If you've lost your Westpac credit or debit card, it's crucial to act swiftly to protect your account and prevent unauthorized transactions. Here's what you should do:
How to Report a Lost or Stolen Westpac Card
1. Report via Online Banking or the Westpac App
To report your card as lost or stolen:
- Log in to your Westpac Online Banking or open the Westpac App.
- Navigate to Service > Services.
- Under Card services, select Report lost or stolen cards.
- Choose the affected card, confirm your address, and follow the prompts to cancel your card and request a replacement.
Once reported, your current card and any linked cards (such as PartPay or Additional Cards) will be canceled. A new Digital Card will be issued for immediate use while you wait for your replacement card to arrive. If you're in Australia, your new card will typically arrive within 10 business days. If you're overseas, ensure your overseas address is updated in your profile to have the replacement sent to you directly.
2. Temporarily Lock Your Card
If you believe your card might be misplaced but not permanently lost, you can temporarily lock it:
- In the Westpac App, search for Lock card and select the card you wish to lock.
- In Online Banking, go to Service > Card services and select Lock a card temporarily.
This temporary lock lasts for 15 days and can be lifted at any time if you locate your card. During this period, your card, including any linked digital wallets, will be inactive. If you don't find your card within 15 days, it's advisable to report it as lost or stolen and request a replacement.

4. Monitor Your Account
After reporting your card as lost or stolen, regularly monitor your account for any unauthorized transactions. If you notice any suspicious activity, contact Westpac immediately to report it and initiate an investigation. Westpac will work with you to resolve any issues and may provide a refund for any fraudulent transactions if the investigation supports your claim.
5. Update Your Recurring Payments
Since your replacement card will have a new card number, expiry date, and CVC, remember to update your card details with any merchants or services that have recurring payments set up. This ensures uninterrupted service and prevents payment declines.
