To use NAB internet banking as efficiently as possible, you first need to register in the system. That’s why we’re offering a step-by-step guide to help you do this quickly and easily.
What you need before you start
- Your 8–10 digit NAB ID and your Date of Birth (used to match your profile).
- A mobile phone able to receive an SMS security code.
Register via a web browser (desktop)
- Visit the NAB website and choose “Internet Banking”.
- On the login screen, click “Register now”.
- Enter your NAB ID and Date of Birth.
- Enter the security code sent to your mobile.
- If you wish to receive electronic communications, add your email and press “Continue”.
- Create a password in the “Create password” and “Re-enter password” fields, tick to agree to the terms and conditions, then select “Continue”.
- Log in with your NAB ID and new password to finish.
Register in the NAB app (mobile)
- Download/open the NAB app and tap “Login”.
- Tap “Register for Internet Banking”.
- Enter your NAB ID and Date of Birth.
- Enter the SMS security code sent to your phone.
- Optionally provide your email for electronic communications and tap “Continue”.
- Think up and enter a password in the “Create password” and “Re-enter password” fields, then agree to the terms to complete setup.
After registration: recommended setup
- Enable SMS Security in “Profile & Settings” → “Security & Password”. This protects logins and approvals and is typically required to make external transfers (“Pay anyone”) and to raise payment limits.
- Online statements: in Internet Banking, turn on paperless statements to access statements and letters online.
- Check your details: confirm your email, mobile number and notification preferences.
Troubleshooting and tips
- If you don’t know your NAB ID, you can usually find it in the NAB app (My Details) or on your card; otherwise contact NAB.
- Use a strong, unique password and avoid registering or logging in on public/shared computers or public Wi-Fi.
Note: Some older flows mentioned “Activate Pay Anyone” during registration. Today, external payments generally require SMS Security to be enabled first; once set up, you can make “Pay anyone” transfers and adjust limits in Internet Banking.
